Every year, students in the beginner piano class learns how to play the piano. The course starts off with students learning how to read sheet music and different terms that are involved with sheet music before playing on the actual piano. At the end of the school year, students show what they have learned by playing for their friends and family.
An anonymous student (11) claimed that this was their second year playing the piano. They wanted to take this class because learning piano seemed fun, and in their opinion, was. When asked how they were feeling about the final recital and the song they were playing, they stated, “I’m feeling really good about it because it’s a really cool sounding song. It is called ‘Sinner’s Finale’.”
Isaac Ramirez (11) said that this was his third year playing the piano. Ramirez took this class to get better at piano and to get better with his social anxiety when preforming. “I am feeling good about my final except this one really hard part. I will be playing ‘Gemini’ by Tony Ann.”
Amahya Gentry (9) said that she has been learning to play the piano for a few months. Gentry took the course because she loves music and because she loves the piano. When she was asked how she felt about the final recital and what song she was playing, she answered with, “I feel horrible. I’ve been sick for two weeks and I’ve been unable to practice or go to school. I am playing ‘Absence of You’ by Grent Perez.” She also wanted to add that Ms. Cavazos is a great teacher and piano class is great.
Another anonymous student (12) explained that this was their first year playing the piano. They stated they took the class because they like music and because they are good at learning new instruments. “I’m very nervous and underprepared. I’m playing ‘Stay’ by Rihanna.”
Jorge Silva (12) began playing the piano this school year. Silva did not voluntarily take the course, but has fun in the class anyway. He answered that he was not prepared for the recital, but the song he will be playing is the Star Wars theme.
Our Tigers are slowly but surely learning their songs and preparing to perform for our community. They are hoping to see other Tigers come in to support on either day.
