On April 23, 2025, Los Banos High School celebrated academic excellence during its annual Academic Boosters Award Ceremony. More than 200 students from grades 10 through 12 were recognized for maintaining high academic standards.
To qualify for recognition, students must achieve an academic GPA of 3.66 or higher for two consecutive semesters. Those receiving the award for the first time were presented with a burgundy and black wallet, themed with LBHS details. In contrast, returning recipients received collectible pins to decorate their graduation stoles. Each pin represents continued academic achievement at the school.
The ceremony, hosted in contribution to the Los Banos High School Academic Boosters Club, included several incentives for student participation. All attending students were entered into a raffle featuring gift cards from businesses across Los Banos. Seniors had an additional opportunity to win scholarships.
The scholarship raffle was open only to seniors who had earned academic recognition for at least five semesters. The raffle included two $500 scholarships and eight $250 scholarships. Additional prizes were available for all eligible attendees, but students were required to attend the event to claim any raffle or scholarship winnings.
Among the scholarship winners was Priscilla Lopez (12) who plans to attend Milan Institute this summer. “I was a little shocked, but it meant a lot, both academically and personally because it shows that good grades get you somewhere,” Lopez said. “Even though it was a raffle, it was a reward that came from being at an event that honored my academic effort.”
Lopez begins classes on June 30 and plans to use her scholarship toward school expenses. She credited LBHS for preparing her to manage responsibilities and maintain academic discipline. “LBHS taught me to keep up with my work because it’s better for me in the long run,” she said.
Offering advice to underclassmen starting their high school journey, Lopez said, “Do your work, but also have fun.” She thanked her parents for their support and gave special appreciation to teachers Mrs. Teixeira and Mr. Garber, who she said were “always so nice and willing to help.”
The event highlighted the strong collaboration between families, staff, and community sponsors and celebrated the value of academic achievement at LBHS.
