Are you an entrepreneur or want to know more about it? Do you like business? Do you enjoy learning about how the marketing industry operates? Do you like to participate in creating a business as a class and competing at a Trade Show against other schools’ Virtual Enterprise classes? If so, check out a new course, Virtual Enterprise (VE) offered next year.
Offered for the 2025-2026 school year, this new class will be taught by Mrs. Stephanie Austin, a Business/marketing teacher who strongly believes that if you’re an inspiring entrepreneur or interested in this type of business to please consider joining.
This class will help students develop essential leadership, professional, functional, and core technology skills through VE’s hands-on, immersive, work-based learning experiences. Over the course of an academic year, Austin will become a consultant as students work individually, in departments, and as a firm to develop, refine, and implement a business plan. In this class, students will elect a CEO, a finance person, a marketing department, etc.
“Everybody has a position in this class,” Austin stated.
As a class/business, the students have to decide which product or service to offer and from there they create advertising for the product or service. In order to manage their virtual business, students work in departments to manage day-to-day functions, produce key deliverables, assess growth, make decisions, respond to challenges, and participate in a variety of business-related events and activities, in-person, and through VE’s global marketplace. VE classrooms break the mold by connecting students around the world, transforming teachers into facilitators, and turning the classroom into a vibrant workplace.
Austin is excited about this opportunity. She stated, “Are you an entrepreneur, do you want to run a business, do you want to be a CEO or a chief financial officer, if so join!”
This program is a new elective for the school but is a nationwide program that has been out for a long time for schools and has helped students become entrepreneurs. Dos Palos has implemented this program and was able to attend trade shows in New York against other schools. This program offers opportunities around the world so don’t sleep on it.
“This is not a class to put your head down,” Austin stated.
The most exciting thing about this program is the people you’ll meet, the product your team will decide to sell, the conventions you’ll go to as a team, and most of all the learning experience on how to become a successful entrepreneur.
