With the final games played, the softball season concludes the 2025 season, marking the end of battles fought and victories earned on the field. The varsity girls softball team will be off to playoffs on May 14.
Hillary Morales (11) has been on varsity all three years of her high school career. Morales has always had a positive impact on the team. Morales’ favorite thing about softball she said “My favorite thing about softball is when we have good energy in the dugout and being able to cheer on my teammates.”
Morales always has good energy and is always there for her teammates. Morales is the starting catcher for the varsity softball team. Morales used to play at the Bases Academy for six years. “I have been playing softball since I was four years old.” It’s hard to stay motivated during hard games, but Morales always tries to stay positive.
“To stay motivated on hard games I try my best to have a positive mindset and make sure to keep focus on the current moment rather than focusing on past mistakes.” Morales has a batting average of 0.312 and 16 runs batted in this season. Morales has helped her team out with five doubles and one triple.
Maliyah Salas (11) has been on varsity for two years. One of her favorite things about playing softball is “ I like playing with my friends and making memories with them.” Salas can play second base and third base but her favorite to play is third base. Salas also played travel softball. Salas played at the Bases Academy. “ I’ve been playing since I was eight years old.” Salas is always cheering on her teammates and tries to have a positive attitude. Salas stays motivated by “staying pumped in the dugout no matter the attitude.”
Salas has a batting average of 0.322 with 19 hits and 13 runs batted in.
