After a long fought 2025 season, the boys varsity baseball falls short from a league title after being moved into a new league. They ended the season with a league record of 9-6 which gave them a spot in the Division four playoffs (fifteenth seed).
Throughout the season the Tigers struggled with numerous injuries from key role players such as Julian Cazares (11), Jesse Vasquez (11), and Eric Moncada (12). Hindered by those injuries, the Tigers had to improvise against the best teams in the league and still came close to winning.
Pitching was one of the main struggles for the team as they didn’t really have a solid pitching sequence for the games. Alongside pitching was their hitting as at that level of baseball, it’s harder to catch up to the ball.
Junior outfielder Elijah Mejia said, “There were a lot more competitive teams and a different environment…One of our expectations was to win the first round of playoffs and so next year’s goal is to make that happen.”
Going up into a new league with bigger schools did seem to take its toll on the tigers as the team was getting more hits taken on their pitchers and the speed of the game being a whole lot faster. Still, the team is fairly young with only seven seniors leaving and quite a bit of junior varsity players coming up.
Their last game of the year was against Oakdale (second seed) in the first round of playoffs. They unfortunately did not play up to the level that Oakdale showed that day and ended the season on a sour note.
Next year’s team shows a lot of promise as their roster should be fully healthy and they know what to expect more in the CCC. The Tigers will be working all summer and fall to improve their game and show the teams of the CCC what is truly possible.
