To celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, the Art Club organized a project to create handcrafted pipe cleaner flowers for every teacher on campus. On May 5, club members delivered the flowers, serving as a heartfelt thank you to the educators who make a difference in students’ lives.
Art Club President Guadalupe Ruano explained the main goal of the project was to “give back to our teachers and show we care to appreciate them and all they do.”
With the goal in mind, the club wanted something unique and personal to give, moving away from typical appreciation week gifts. The handmade flowers gave each a special touch to help teachers feel seen and appreciated.
The idea to create pipe cleaner flowers was chosen over typical gifts because it stood out as something different and memorable. The club believed it was going to be a gift teachers don’t normally see. The club members began preparing in February, working for several weeks to ensure that every teacher would receive a gift in time for the special week.
The project went smoothly, as it was met with smiles and gratitude from each teacher. “Thankfully it did go as planned and most teachers seemed to really like them,” Ruano said.
The Art Club’s effort not only brightened up classrooms, but also reminded teachers of how much their hard work is appreciated by the students.
