The tradition of Mr. and Ms. Tiger has been around for 50 years. The first Mr. Tiger was awarded in 1974. A male student continues to win every year. In 1977 the first Ms.Tiger was celebrated, continuing on with the new winner every year.
So what goes into winning Mr./Ms. Tiger? Coaches take time going through all athletes and scoring them on a point system. Athletes get a point for every first team patch they have. Then they get points for how many scholarship patches they receive. Every sportsmanship, coaches vote, varsity sport, and every Iron Tiger patch earns a point for the student.
Winner of Ms.Tiger for the Class of 2025 is Cassidy Barcellos! Throughout her high school career she played cross country, water polo, basketball, swim, and track. A quote Cassidy went by was, “They’ll judge you whether you succeed or fail, so grind in silence and let your discipline define you.”
Cassidy plans on attending Merced College and to continue her water polo and basketball career.
Winner of Mr. Tiger for the Class of 2025 is Gannon Lemos. In his high school career he participated in golf, water polo, and swim. When asked about his experience playing sports and winning Mr.Tiger, Lemos stated, “I would have to say my experience overall was amazing the memories that I’ve made in high school sports and the relationships that make up for all the time and work that I put in.”
Gannon plans on attending Fresno City College where he’ll continue his golf journey.
