The Los Banos FFA Chapter kicked off the school year with an incredible back-to-school BBQ and meeting on August 19, welcoming over 300 LBFFA members.
Originally setting up 240 chairs, the officer team was thrilled to be given the opportunity to scramble for extras as more members poured in, a true sign of the chapter’s growing dedication and involvement.
During the meeting, the officer team introduced the exciting new “Member of the Month” program. For August, the honor went to Andrew Goins, a highly active and committed FFA member who did outstanding with his Rabbit projects at the May Day Fair, Merced Fair, and California State Fair. Goins received a custom wooden plaque, handcrafted by woodshop advisor, Mr. Rod Hill. Goins also received a cup of treats as a token of appreciation for his hard work.
Officers also laid out a clear and exciting roadmap for the upcoming months, giving all members, both new and returning, a strong sense of direction and enthusiasm for what’s to come. These activities include the Staff vs. FFA baseball game on September 17th, the Pork loin Drive Thru BBQ fundraiser on September 18th, and upcoming practices for the cotton judging and dairy judging teams.
With such an amazing turnout and overwhelming support from students, families, and boosters, it is safe to say that Los Banos FFA is off to a phenomenal start. The officer team looks forward to many more successful meetings and events throughout the year.
Attendees were treated to a dinner prepared by the Los Banos Ag Boosters. The meal featured juicy burgers with an endless amount of condiments available, crispy fries, and slices of watermelon, a perfect way to wrap up a warm summer evening.
The next LBFFA meeting is scheduled for September 8 at 7 p.m. in the MPB building.
