After 13 years, Los Banos High School welcomes back Ms. Lisa Marchese to the Tiger family.
Marchese has been teaching since 2005 in physical education, earth science, biology and anatomy at Los Banos High School. She has a sports medicine major and is a Certified Athletic Trainer. She has taught in many areas being anatomy, physiology, biology, earth science, sports medicine, athletic training and health.
After teaching for a while, Marchese felt like she needed a change, so she got her masters degree and started working at Los Banos Junior High as an assistant principal. Later, she was able to open Creekside Junior High while working in administration and after that decided to work with Elementary students. After a few years she chose to come back to Los Banos High and she plans to stay until retirement.
Marchese stated, “I saw the opportunity to come back and do what I absolutely love, and so I came back and I have only a few years left until I retire so I’m going to come be with the kids.”
Marchese believes that one of the most important things is to support her students and encourage them to push themselves to be better. She wants to build connections with them because everyone struggles sometimes and that they should know that they have an adult in their corner that truly cares and that they will motivate you to be the best you can be.
“A lot of times students see us teachers as we were straight A students and we never struggled, we never got in trouble, and most of the time the people that go into teaching weren’t those straight A students, we have that experience of what it was like to struggle with choices or having peer pressure,” she expressed.
Marchese stated that she struggled quite a bit as a student and was diagnosed with a learning disability in college. Due to this, it causes her to look at learning a little differently which has taught her to always try to make sure that all students are able to access learning and if they are having difficulties, that there is a different future ahead and that she sees it for them even if they may not.
Ms. Marchese looks forward to coming to work every day and is very grateful for the opportunity to work at Los Banos High once again.
