The varsity cheer team is kicking off the season stronger than ever, with the program growing in spirit and skill. From exciting new halftime routines and stunts that showcase their teamwork, the team has already set the tone for an unforgettable year.
With their energy lighting up the sidelines and their bond shining through the performance, the team is proud to be led this year by senior captains Angelina Robertson and Ashlynne Cancino, along with sophomore captains, Brianna Reyna and Bradie Wooten.
Robertson leads by example, bringing energy and confidence to every performance. “I get the team pumped by reminding everyone how hard we worked, and that it is our time to go out there and give it our all,” she said.
Her favorite moments come from cheering passionately on the sidelines and carrying that same energy and confidence into the halftime routines that excite the entire crowd. Her favorite game day memory so far is dancing with the mascot to the song “Juju on that Beat” against their rivals Dos Palos. She’s excited to make her senior year the best one yet, and create unforgettable memories.
Cancino motivates her teammates through positivity and hard work. “We help get the team pumped for gameday by spreading positivity and working hard,” she said.
Her favorite moments come from performing with confidence and feeling the team’s bond grow stronger after every game, as she has made many memories from cheer that she will cherish forever.
Reyna makes sure her teammates feel supported and confident. “I try to stay calm because I have complete confidence in my team and I know we’ll go out there and kill it every time,” she said.
She also enjoys creating an unbreakable bond between varsity and JV, and she will never forget the halftime performance dancing with the mascot against Dos Palos.
Wooten focuses on encouragement and reminding her teammates of their worth. “My favorite memory was cheering at our first varsity game and feeling like our team was one big family. I always try to lead with encouragement so everyone can perform their best,” she said.
She believes the team is a family built on passion and effort. She is honored to be under the Friday night lights with her team while showcasing all of their talents.
Together, Robertson, Cancino, Reyna, and Wooten lead cheer with dedication, energy, and heart. Their passion not only inspires the team, but also brings the entire school and community together each game.
