This school year we welcome Ms. Litzy Rivera, a new staff member to the language department as a Spanish 1 and Spanish heritage teacher. She is a newly graduated student from Stanislaus State University and a first gen student.
Rivera’s path to becoming a teacher started in kindergarten. She said, “Teaching has always been a passion of mine.”
Inspired by her own teachers, she reflected on her own high school Spanish teacher Mr. Calderon who showed her how to enjoy teaching and Professor Bartcheto at Stanislaus State who furthered her passion. Rivera said, “I think it’s amazing how teachers can make an impact on students.”
This school year her biggest goal is to grow as an educator. Rivera said, “I hope my students leave her classroom with a good experience.”
Rivera enjoys connecting with her students and hopes to have an impact on them. She said, “My students brighten up my life.”
In this short amount of time since school started, she said she is making good progress and connections with students. Rivera said, “ I always feel like I’m such an open book, my students know me so well.” She’s a smiley and bubbly person who likes to be involved in school and would like to show her school spirit by being involved more.
Before becoming a teacher she had a few small jobs. Rivera said, “I would consider being a teacher here as my first big girl job.” Previously Rivera was a student teacher at Pacheco High School.
Rivera was born in Salinas, but has been a resident of Los Banos since she was six years old . Her family is from Michoacan Mexico, she said, “I always say I’m from Michoacan Mexico, those are my roots and I’m proud.”
When she is not in the classroom, Rivera enjoys playing pickleball, ping pong, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She wants to learn new things and grow to be better.
Let’s give Rivera a warm Tiger welcome by saying hello to her in room 40.
