Interested in Flag Football? The high school is going on its third year of flag football for the Lady Tigers.
Flag Football has quickly become one of the most unique sports for the campus, offering a “fast growing sport,” said Captain Siena Freitas (11), an inclusive alternative to traditional athletics. Unlike tackle football, it emphasizes strategy, speed, and most of all teamwork without the heavy contact which can sometimes be difficult.
Kaylee Fuentes (9), another Flag Football captain said, “The most challenging thing about flag football is by making sure we work together and by having to maintain the pressure.”
Others point out that the competitive spirit is just as strong as in other sports, but the focus on skills and communication makes flag football stand out.
This season “the varsity team is doing solid and we are starting to get better as the season goes on, ” said Fuentes.
Freitas said, “The varsity team is doing well. We have been attending tournaments and doing pretty good at those.” It is safe to say that this new season started out great for our Lady Tigers with a lot of improvement.
The team practices every day at Loftin Stadium or at the school’s field to improve their skills.
Their first game is at Loftin Stadium against Merced High School September 19. Make sure to come out and support our Lady Tigers!
