Mr. Justin Carpresso, head coach of varsity football, has led the program for twenty-five years and is continuing to focus on finding ways to improve and keep the team successful. His dedication has been clear as the team prepares for a challenging season ahead with both new opportunities and obstacles to overcome.
Over the summer, the players have been lifting weights and trained consistently to build strength, muscle, and discipline. Carpresso explained the importance of effort and focus by saying, “Work harder, be more focused, and become number one.” The team’s offseason work shows the commitment of both the coaching staff and better prepared than in previous years.
This year, the team faces challenges of competing in a new league with tougher opponents. Carpresso said, “Going into the new league, we have had to step up our competition. The league is bigger than us.”
Despite the challenges being very difficult, he is super determined, calling the season “enjoyable” and expressing his pride towards the student athletes growing and developing throughout the years into stronger competitors and better individuals as students and athletes.
Carpresso also spoke about how all the teams in this new league are very unpredictable, making it harder to know the outcome ahead of time. “The teams are harder to read when figuring out if we’ll win or not,” he said.
Through it all, his main focus remains the same, preparing his athletes to work hard, stay disciplined, and compete at their highest possible level while representing the school.
