Are you an artist looking for an outlet to relax? Do you like creating art of all kinds? Or want to know more about it? If so, check out Mrs. Sarah Sagouspe’s art club.
The art club is run by Sagouspe, a hardworking artist herself who strongly believes that “you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to try” which implies in the artist’s projects.
Something new this year about the art club is students are able to schedule Sagouspe for pride time and can come in and just create all kinds of art.
This club is for students interested in building their artistic skills in all areas. The program offers a safe and quiet place for students to create. Pride time meetings are the first and last of the month.
Sagouspe and other art teachers host the fall Oct 14 and spring Apr 16 art show where students in each art class can display one piece of art they have created in and out of the classroom. If other clubs are interested in collaborating the art club is interested.
The officers shared information about their role and club expectations.
President of the art club, Lupita Rauno (12) loves being part of all the different activities that they do. Rauno is really excited to see multiple art forms from students in and out of the club. Rauno understands that when it comes to being president of a club, “You have to be for the people, if you are not for the people then the position is not for you.”
Vice – President Melanie Rodriguez (12) chose this position because she plans on going to college and majoring in architecture. Rodriguez accidentally joined the art club last year and really enjoyed it. Her favorite part of being vice president is being able to do more in the club by giving ideas/advice. Rodriquez’s duties as vice president is to double check things and make sure everything is up-to-date. She steps up as vice president when the president isn’t there, gives everyone a part for fundraisers, but most importantly, makes sure everyone is having fun.
Secretary Christina Grier (12) chose this position to be more helpful to the art club, her note taking is expressed to be on point and she includes everyone’s ideas. Grier’s communication skills are great, very easy to understand and get along with. When Grier is faced with obstacles she’s able to handle them in a composed manner, demonstrating resilience in challenging situations.
Jazmin Ponce (12) is the treasure of the art club. Ponce has chosen this position because she has been a part of the art club since her sophomore year and knows her ins and outs. Ponce’s favorite part of being treasure is doing the PO’s and budgeting, she believes it’s a great benefit for her in the future. The club’s values this year is to reach out to more people, put up more murals for the community, and do something that everyone can enjoy with their family without spending a lot of money.
Mariah Vaca (12) who is in charge of the social media page chose this position to put more art out into the community for people to see that all art is different and wanted people to see their hobbies and art out into the world. She hopes to create posts that bring people together for them to see how much they have in common with others.
For those wanting to join, the next meeting is Sept. 16 in Room 508.
