Rop Health Medical teacher Mrs. Jimenez, aids in certifying her students in CPR of the American Heart Association.
According to Jimenez, she teaches CPR to her students to prepare them for their future medical careers. She claims, “A lot of it has to do with Career preparations. In Health Science, Sports Medicine, and Patient Care, CPR Certifications are often required.” Unfortunately, students who are not in her Patient Care class cannot be taught CPR nor get certified by Mrs. Jimenez, or at least not yet.
“I enjoy helping others whether it’s through Patient Care or teaching students who want to be in Patient Care” she stated. CPR videos, CPR mannequins, and physical demonstrations made by Jimenez herself are shown to her students. Jimenez allows students to get into groups to practice performing CPR with and without an AED and eventually has them take a 24 question test where 80% or higher must be achieved in order to become certified. Mrs. Jimenez also succeeds in helping students learn how to use an AED in case it’s ever needed.
These classes are demonstrated at Los Banos High in the Patient Care class where the CPR teachings and learning process takes as much as 1-2 weeks, which can be a whole curriculum. Mrs. Jimenez begins teaching CPR to students around October of 2025 which can sometimes be postponed until December, depending on how busy Mrs. Jimenez and her students are.
