Mrs. Juana Jimenez is the new attendance secretary.
She takes calls and messages to clear that day’s attendance or missing passes for later check out times. She also assists parents who are at the window to check out their student.
She has worked here for many years but is now back in the office where she first started.
“I originally was hired as an Office Assistant for Attendance back in 2014,” Jimenez said. After helping in the main office for a few years, she returned to attendance when Mrs. Lettie Parras retired.
Jimenez explains that both offices are very busy, but in different ways. In the main office, she worked with the assistant principals, learning directors, and visitors. In the attendance office, she works more with parents, students, and outside agencies.
Her favorite part about the new role is getting to meet students and families every day. “I really enjoy the everyday interaction with our students and their families,” she shared.
The biggest challenge has been getting used to how fast-paced attendance is since calls and checkouts must be handled right away.
She also knows how important her work is. “Students need their attendance to be up to date so that they can participate in any extracurricular activities or privileges.”
Jimenez’s goal is to stay positive, help students and staff, and always remind everyone that attendance matters.
