On Sept. 20, the Interact Club and its members took part in the Pancake Breakfast hosted by the town’s Rotary Club Los Banos Chapter in the Miller and Lux building.
The meal contained pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice and milk for $13. These meals were served from 8 to 11 a.m. to our community and patrons of the Los Banos Downtown Street Fair. Its purpose this year is to help fund Sober Grad Night for both high schools.
This year’s Pancake Breakfast is important to our community especially since the town’s Rotary Club hasn’t hosted the event since Sept. 16, 2023 due to not having enough manpower to make it possible. The Rotary Club reached out to the Interact Club’s advisor, Mrs. Kimberly McCullough, to ask for the Interact Club’s help and the club gladly accepted.
In this year’s event Interact Club members helped set up, sell tickets, serve food, and help with clean up. The club had a huge success as its purpose is to offer students the opportunity to build leadership skills, connect with others, serve our community by helping and donating to those in need or unfortunate all while having fun when serving our community.
“It was such a nice experience to help and serve others. We sold tickets and passed out breakfast. We saw a lot of joy in the people volunteering and that was really nice. It was a fun opportunity to socialize and see new faces,” stated Isabella Guerra, President of the Interact Club.
The Interact Club is ready and eager to assist the Rotary Club and serve our community in another event called Empty Bowls, which will be held Nov. 5 – 6 at the Arts Council building. In this event club members will help set up the event, serve and pass out soup, as well as clean up after the event has concluded.
If you are interested in joining the Interact Club, membership forms are due by October 1 in room 43.
