Our two members of the homecoming committee Kendall Castillo (11) and Aubrey Sylva (11) prepare for a Homecoming Night to remember with the theme, To A Night At Rio on Oct 18 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets will be available to purchase online or in person the week of Homecoming. Golf cart floats will be presented at the football game Oct 17, with class officers decorating.
Homecoming dress up week is Oct 13-17. The following days are assigned as: Monday: Anything But A Backpack; Tuesday: Dress Like A Tourist; Wednesday: Dress As Favorite Artist; Thursday: Twin Day; and Friday: Wear Class Colors.
Any information about setting up/cleanup, running for homecoming can be found with Mr. Frank Leonard in room 704. Google forms will be open to run and vote for Homecoming royalty the first week of October.
As the committee puts Homecoming together with their advertisements, tickets and ideas, ASB describes their atmosphere as a fun event because of dress up week, more football games to prepare for, and it gives the students an opportunity to be a part of school spirit. According to Castillo, over the years, Homecoming has changed. “It’s gotten louder and more students have decided to participate.”
Castillo said she is “Most excited to see everyone’s dress and to have a great time.”
Homecoming means getting together with all your classmates and friends, combining with other students to get different aspects of Homecoming. Some advice Castillo would give to future Homecoming committee members is to definitely make it more exciting and to not base everything off of the old ideas.
Sylva stated, “My favorite Homecoming memory was my freshman year being in the middle of the dance surrounded by upper classmen.”
Homecoming brings students together to discuss what they’re going to wear, where to take pictures, dinners and dancing together. Students are able to experience new things and get out of their comfort zone
