The cheer program is hosting its annual Mini Cheer Clinic, welcoming students from TK–8th grade to join the fun. The clinic runs October 13, 15, and 16, with a performance during JV halftime at Loftin Stadium on October 17 at 5 p.m.
Head Coach Gabriela Andrada, in her second year leading the program, says the clinic is all about growing confidence and building connections. She loves watching young athletes shine alongside the high school cheer team.
“What I love most is seeing athletes grow in confidence, skills, and teamwork. It’s the best part of coaching,” Andrada said.
This year’s theme is inspired by Taylor Swift, called the “Tigers Cheer Era.” Participants will learn Tiger chants and dances, each day matching a different theme such as “Debut Era: Country Western” and “Fearless Era: Gold, Sparkles & Glitter.” The week finishes with “Red Era: Tiger Spirit.”
“The best part is when they realize their spirit can light up a whole stadium,” Andrada said.
The clinic also includes a special T-shirt, cheer material, and participant game entrance for $50. Practices will be held at Westside Elementary due to campus construction.
“I hope they walk away with confidence, joy, and the feeling that they belong on the sidelines with us,” Andrada said.
Coach Andrada explained that the event unites families while connecting younger Tigers to LBHS traditions. She believes the clinic strengthens school pride across the community.
“It connects our youngest Tigers to the high school, builds school pride, and brings families together. It’s a tradition that unites Los Banos,” Andrada said.
For the cheerleaders, the clinic is also a leadership opportunity. Planning chants, teaching dances, and mentoring the younger kids helps them grow as role models.
“It takes teamwork! Most importantly, we make sure our cheerleaders are prepared to lead with patience, positivity, and enthusiasm,” Andrada said.
The Mini Cheer Clinic is more than practice. It’s a chance for students to perform, belong, and build memories. Families can catch the “Tigers Cheer Era” performance at Loftin Stadium on October 17.
