Excitement is growing as preparations ramp up for the highly anticipated Fall Art Show, set for October 14. The event will be held in the MPB from break to 6th period, featuring a vibrant showcase of student artwork. Pieces from photography, digital media, visual design, sculpture, drama, band, floral design, choir, piano, guitar, and metal and woodwork, led by our AG students, will be on display, highlighting the wide range of creativity across campus.
“The Fall Art Show is to showcase our local LBHS artists talent,” said Sarah Sagouspe, Visual Design teacher. “Students will have the chance to complete two to three projects and select the one they are most proud of to showcase,” she added.
Behind the scenes, planning for the Fall Art Show begins weeks in advance. Students, especially those in the Art Club, have been hard at work creating eye-catching posters to promote the event and spread the word throughout campus. “We start planning two to three weeks before the show with the Art Club, but I believe the art teachers begin organizing much earlier than we realize,” said Mariah Vaca (12).
The Art Club has been hard at work not only preparing the show but also promoting it. “As social media manager, I make sure that a post is created in a timely manner and posters are created during meetings or Pride Times,” said Vaca. Volunteers also play a key role in the event. “They help with setup, make sure the art isn’t getting messed with, and help clean up. Promotion is usually just making posters or advertising to friends.”
On the day of the Art Show, the art department will be busy setting up, with help from first-period students to ensure everything is ready by break. “It can be challenging to prepare everything, especially with around 175 students in each of the three visual and performing arts classes. It’s a massive show,” said Sagouspe.
She hopes the Fall Art Show will help students recognize and take pride in their creative talents. Teachers and administrators will also have the opportunity to purchase student artwork, further boosting student confidence and celebrating their achievements.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a variety of creative works, showcasing the skills and imagination of our students across multiple mediums. Many students start preparing their projects as soon as September, putting in many days of focused pieces they will choose to display at the art show.
Don’t miss this opportunity to come celebrate creativity and support our artists!
