The Art Club has been selling small, fist sized imitation pumpkins in the student store on Sept. 29 and on Oct. 3 and 10. Pumpkins will be decorated by students, teachers and staff who have bought them from the club.
Pumpkins will be due on Oct. 13 in Mrs. Sarah Sagouspe’s classroom, room 508 during break. On Oct 14. pumpkins will be displayed for students to vote during the Art Show in the MPB from break to sixth period.
The Art Club decided to do this activity in order to fundraise for future trips and activities. They come up with ideas through their meetings and take ideas from the members, then refine and use them.
The club’s president, Guadalupe Ruano (12) said, “The club decided to paint pumpkins because it was unique and unheard of and we thought the student body would enjoy it for the season.”
The competition will result with the three most voted decorated pumpkins. The prizes will most likely be similar to the last year’s prizes, which included art supplies and other gifts.
Sagouspe said, “Last year, we handed out Starbucks cups with Starbucks gift cards and supplies.”
Last fall, students brought out their creativity by creating unique designs like a witch and clowns. This gives a chance to students and staff who aren’t associated with the Art Club or art classes to show off their creative skills.
Around 45 pumpkins were sold within two weeks to office staff, teachers and students. The club hopes to continue this activity for years to come to bring out the creativity of students around campus.
