On October 1, Hispanic Heritage Night brought students, families, and staff together for an evening full of culture, food, and entertainment. The event was held in the Quad from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and was organized by the LULAC Club officers with the help of their advisor, Mr. Uriel Malfabon.
The goal of this event was to unite the community and celebrate pride in Hispanic culture. Guests enjoyed traditional food, music, and performances while spending time with family and friends.
“The purpose of the event was to bring together people of a community to celebrate our pride in who we are, while enjoying good entertainment and food. It served as a way to bond with family and friends!” said Stephanie Alvarez (12).
Clubs like LULAC and the Wellness Club were present, selling face paint, hot chocolate, pan dulce, and more. All food was donated by students and club members, including popular items such as tamales, tostadas, pozole, nachos, aguas frescas, and pan dulce.
“While there was no technical vendors, we sold all student and club members donated food like tamales, tostadas, pozole, nachos, aguas frescas, and pan dulce,” said Alvarez.
The event also featured amazing performances from Danza Aztecas Chipe Los Banos, Los Chavalos Del Norte, and Folklorico Yolotly, who brought lots of energy from the crowd with traditional music and dance.
“It’s important for the school to hold such an event to bring together the community of Los Banos and recognize that we can all find similarities and bond over things like good food,” Alvarez.
Hispanic Heritage Night was a memorable event which celebrated culture, unity, and pride. It reminded everyone of the strength found in community and the importance of honoring our roots.
