Junior, Aubrey Sylva has been a three sport athlete for many years and not only does she manage flag football, soccer, and track but also extra activities outside school.
Sylva faces challenges which she said, “Some challenges I have to overcome are leaving school to go to my games which makes me miss class.”
Sylva practices time management skills just as much as she does for her sports. As a high school student managing time for extra activities is challenging.
Sylva said, “Some things I have learned from being a student athlete is learning how to manage my time better and focus on things outside of sports.”
Missing class leads to missing assignments which can be stressful and overwhelming, but Sylva still participates in activities like FFA, ASB, and she is also the class of 2027 secretary.
Even with the extra activities, being an athlete plays a big part in what makes Sylva into the person she is today as stated. “I have been a student athlete for as long as I can remember and I’ve been doing sports my whole life,” she said.
Even with the stress of staying busy Sylva still finds a positive way to enjoy being a student athlete. She learns to focus on the bright side of things.
Sylva said, “My favorite part is going to away games, eating, laughing, and making tiktoks with my teammates.”
With chemistry between the girls it will lead to better communication. Team bonding is important when it comes to creating a winning team.
Competitiveness is also important in which Sylva said, “Can’t forget about winning, I love winning my games!”
One player can make a big difference and with Sylva being the one to spread positivity and happiness amongst her team it should play in effect like dominoes.
