Small Engines Team Competes
March 20, 2017
The Los Banos FFA Small engines team had their first competition on March 11th, 2017 in Chico. They have five team members Bailey Wooten, TJ Mancuso, Randi Souto, Jocelyn Alanis, and Sarah Baker. Their coach is Mr. Jason Bretz.
They compete individually as well as a team. They individually participate in four categories which are Theory Test, Parts Identification, Trouble Shooting, and Problem Solving. As a team they participate in Trouble shooting an engine. They did very well overall. They placed second as a team.
Bailey Wooten individually placed fifth. Bailey Wooten was the only person to place individually from our school. Wooten joined the club this year, and it was his first FFA Small Engines meet. Wooten talked about how many different things made him want to join this team. He said it’s something he is really good at and loves to do. “It just comes natural to me,” Wooten explained. He also said that this was a very memorable meet as well as something he will never forget!
Randi Souto also really enjoyed this competition. Souto has been to many competitions due to the fact that this is her second year being on the FFA Small Engines team. She said, “I enjoy being on this team. I meet many people from all around California in one place competing at the same contest.”
Overall, the FFA Small Engines team is a great way to meet new people interested in the same topic as you, as well as learn important things about engines.

Doing something you love can only make things better. I would know! I’m glad that our classmates got to do something they enjoy, because this can be a once in a life time opportunity for them. Congratulations to all!!!
