Every year, dozens of students begin studying for the SAT. Many students feel overwhelmed and nervous, but studying for the SAT can be as easy as studying for a normal assignment.

The SAT is probably the most important test for those looking to get into college. It is completely understandable that some students feel nervous to take the SAT, but this could get in the way of studying. Try to think of studying for the SAT the same as studying for a normal test. Don’t overwhelm yourself.

Taking a practice SAT is recommended by Math teacher, Mrs. Seaborn, who took the liberty of handing out practice tests to all of her students. “If you do well on the practice test, you’ll feel confident about taking the real test. If you don’t do too well, don’t worry. Your teachers are always there to help you,” she says.

Students are eager to take the SAT and apply to college. “I’m nervous about the SAT,” says Senior David Flores, “and I hate studying, but if I listen to music, I’m able to concentrate.” This is great advice. Try to study in a way to eliminate some stress. Listening to music is a great way to reduce stress. “I plan on applying to several colleges,” Flores also says, who hopes his SAT score will help him get into a good school.

Administrators came into senior classes on Thursday, August 24 to talk about colleges. Ms. Lorena Cortez, school counselor gave advice for college applications. “Be completely honest when filling out your applications.” Ms. Cortez says there will be consequences for students lying about their GPA that can result in being kicked out of college. She also handed out SAT schedules.  Copies of the schedule are available in the office.

For seniors, the last available SAT test to take before college applications are due is Oct 7 with registration by September 8. Good luck to everyone who is planning to take the SAT in the upcoming weeks.
