Actors Or Singers?

Did you know that there is a large number of celebrities who went from acting to becoming an artist?  Some still stick to their roots and or do both, acting and singing.  Below is a compiled list of a few individuals who made a career change.

Jack Black – He is the lead vocalist of the comedic group Tehacious D which formed in 1994 with friend Kyle Gass.  They have released three albums so far.

Jennifer Lopez – J.Lo released her first single “If You Had My Love” in 1999. The multi-talented star continues to act and sing when she is not a judge on American idol.

Donald Glover – Former community star raps under the stage name Childish Gambino and released his first studio album in 2011 He has platinum hits like the singles 3005 and Redbone.

Lindsay Lohan – She has been in front of the cameras since the age of three, but the Mean Girls star decided to be more than an actress, and her first album titled Speak released in 2004 went platinum.

Jared Leto – The Thirty Seconds To Mars star formed the group with his brother in 1998 after all their success selling millions of albums and even going on tour with Linkin Park, Leto decided to pursue acting.  You may know him from his role is Suicide Squad as the joker.

Scarlett Johanson – Debuted her first album. Anywhere I Lay My Head, in 2008. The following year she collaborated with singer – songwriter Pete Yorn to record Break UP.

Drake – Before the chart topping singles, he was famous for starting on degrassi: The Next Generation as Jimmy Brooks, a basketball star who was confined to a wheelchair after being injured in a school shooting.

Bruce Willis – In 1987, the then TV actor, who was a year away from his lucrative Die Hard movie franchise. released his debut album, The Return Of Bruno. Willis saw some success singing as his alter ego.

Jamie Foxx – Got his start on In Living Color and collaborated with Kanye West for Gold Digger, a number one hit on Billboard Hot 100.  Foxx had similar success with his four solo albums.  

Eddie Murphy – The comedian had one major hit, Party All The Time in the 1980s, but the rest of the album was not as successful as his acting career.
