Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, annually on November 11, that honors military veterans, that is people who served in the United States Armed Forces.

It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other countries, marking the anniversary of the end WWI.   Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany  went into effect. The United States previously observed Armistice Day. The U.S. holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

Los Banos will be celebrating the day with a Veterans Day parade. The marching bands from the high schools, along with the color guards will be participating. The Los Banos FFA also walks in the parade carrying a giant American flag.

Debbie Zuspan 56, remembers her father telling her and all her siblings stories about fighting in WWII. She can not believe how strong and brave he was, and she thought it was so amazing that he risked his life for his country.

Los Banos High School will be closed Friday, November 10.
