The Los Banos High School Cross Country team just finished its last meet in WAC. Some athletes have been practicing since summer, and now  they only have subsections to compete in.

Fresh/Soph boys got 3rd place, Fresh/Soph girls got a three-way tie for third, Varsity guys got a tie for fourth place and Varsity girls got first place. Good job to all of the Cross Country team and a special congratulations to sisters Leslie and Jasmine Hernandez. Leslie Hernandez (11) got first place and MVP in league girls. Jasmine Hernandez (10)came close behind and got second.

With the end of the season, the team also gave a farewell to the seniors in Cross Country. They have had a, ”Great season for senior year,” says senior, Marissa Hernandez. In their last year in Cross Country, they push hard to do their best and have made it successfully to the end of this season.

The season was also a fun one according to the runners. “I had fun with the environment. I love the people,” says another senior Jared Haug.

Mr. Joe Barcellos is the coach for both girls and boys all levels.  He said,    “Overall, I think this season went well. The girls side, we did some shifting around and were able to get champions for both levels. Guys struggled due to injuries and a little lack of focus.” The shifting in girls was to move some frosh/soph girls to varsity like Jasmine Hernandez.

Good luck to the team in subsections.
