Expectations High for Nintendo At E3
May 7, 2018
Nintendo blew everyone away the last few months with the announcement of a new Smash Bros. game. Now everyone’s expectations are high for Nintendo at E3 this year.
What is E3? E3 takes place every summer and is the ultimate spot for video game fans to get updated on all the upcoming games of the year. The first E3 was held in 1995, and has become one of the most famous gaming events in past years.
Nintendo likes to keep their fans guessing. At the last E3, they announced several games with little detail about their content and release date. Nintendo has stated that they were working on Metroid Prime 4, Fire Emblem 16, a new Pokemon game, Bayonetta 3, as well as the new Super Smash Bros. announcement, but released little to no information on the games. This has many speculating that Nintendo will for sure be talking about these games this summer at E3. Other games that are for sure being shown at E3 are Crash Bandicoot, Captain Toad, Mario Tennis Aces, and Dark Souls.
Two special events are taking place at E3, a Splatoon 2 tournament and the much awaited Smash Bros invitational, which will show off the anticipated new Smash Bros 5. Nintendo is known for having competitions during large gaming events such as E3.
Although E3 is a month away, there have already been rumours of what Nintendo will announce. Rumors suggest that Nintendo will continue to support the Nintendo 3ds. Rumors have hinted at a Fornite port for the Switch. Other rumors hint at Wii u-ports, including the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and the Legend is Zelda Skyward Sword. We have predicted that Nintendo will announce a new Paper Mario game for the switch, as well as the Spyro trilogy for the Switch.
Long time Nintendo fan, Anthony Torres, junior, says, “I’m more concerned with what they already announced more than whatever they haven’t announced yet. They should talk about all the games that they announced with ZERO information before they go announcing new games. People aren’t going to be interested in their new games if they don’t even tell us anything about it.”
We also asked Kevin Bryant, 12, who hopes to buy a Switch someday when he gets enough money. “I know they said they’d make a new Pokemon for the Switch, but they haven’t given us any details. If it looks good, I’ll probably buy a Switch.”
Another Nintendo fan Manuel Martinez, senior, said, “Although I’m not a huge Nintendo fan, I’m really excited about Smash Bros.” Manuel continued saying, “I think Nintendo will do extremely well at E3 this year, even better than Microsoft and probably the same level as Sony, it not better.” Martinez said that besides Smash Bros., he wants to see Fortnite get announced for the Switch, because Fortnite is an amazing game on the consoles like PS4 and Xbox, and he can’t imagine how it will look like on a portable console like the Switch.
