Thanksgiving Recipes Sure to Make the Holiday Memorable
November 9, 2018
Halloween has come to an end, and we are starting off the new month with Thanksgiving vibes! Here in Los Banos, the citizens have spoken up about what they’ll be cooking for this year’s big meal, and what you could also cook to not only save time, but to try something new!
Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without the main dishes: turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, yams and ham. However, with some insights on what else people can make this year, there are many recipes to share and try out.
For example, take Mrs. Sandoval, a Spanish 1 and 2 teacher who made a spinach dip at last year’s Thanksgiving.
“It’s not as difficult,” said Mrs. Sandoval reassuringly. “It takes about an hour to make, and you can find the recipe online. I know the main ingredients are spinach and mozzarella cheese.”
Mrs. Sandoval uses this dip with pretzels and bread sticks for a side and also a meal.
For stuffing, people always go the traditional way. But what if there was a better and bigger kind of stuffing, why not try it out? Learning director, Mr. Rotandi’s peach stuffing is famous in his family, and it’s easy to make.
“It takes peaches, regular stuffing, and many more things that I can’t exactly think of right now. But it’s easy to make! And I recommend it if you have a sweet tooth.”
Mr. Rotandi has made it two years in a row, and it is a great way to express your love for peaches too. It takes about 30 minutes to make, excluding putting it into your turkey.
How can we forget the dessert? Pumpkin Pie is a specialty in today’s world. However, what if we told you that there is such a thing to go on top of you pumpkin pie? According to Reed Simmons, (12) coconut whipped cream is the way to go for a delicious and quick topping.
“First, you need coconut shavings, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and an empty container to use for the whipped cream,” Simmons stated. “You blend the heavy cream and the coconut shavings and put a bit of vanilla in it and boom! You have your whipped cream.” This recipe takes no more than five minutes if you have the right blending machine.
So, if you’re out of ideas, consider these suggestions. Ask friends and family; they’ll surely have a recipe you can add to your yearly Thanksgiving dinner.
