The wrestling team had a dual meet with Pacheco and also celebrated senior night on Thursday, January 23.  The following seniors were recognized: Gabriel Mendoza, Reed Simmons, Devin Lower, Linda Palayo, Destiny Torres, Leslie Hernandez, and Colten Graham. For these seniors, it is the last time they will wrestle a dual meet as a Los Banos tiger.

The night was electric with the girls taking the WAC title by more than 25 points. The boys lost by 36 points but gave up 30 points in forfeits. The boys roster had only nine wrestlers to Pacheco’s 14.  Both teams wrestled tough, and there were no blow out matches. The stands were full of spectators for both Pacheco and Los Banos, showing up in large numbers for the competition.

Gabriel Mendoza said, ¨I was glad to be able to spend my senior season with such a dedicated team.¨

His father is a coach, and he has been involved in the wrestling program since a young age, along with his younger brother Jason Mendoza who is now a sophomore. The two of them practice together every day and push each other to do better.  

Team members who qualified are going to Sectionals in Folsom on February 8 and 9.
