Upcoming S Club Events Offer Opportunities for Community Service
Want to help out your community and better the lives of offers? S Club or the Soroptimist Club encourages community service among its members.
The club so far this year has about 10 to 15 members including our vice president, Eliza Lopez (12). We encourage everyone to come and join the club anytime throughout the year.
Our most recent event that happened was the Peace for families march that was on October 23. The march began at the Pacheco park and ended at the LB Community Center where there was refreshments, guest speakers, and community booths.
The next community service event is scheduled for November 16 at the Los Banos Nursing and Rehab by Circle K. The S club will host a Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts at 2 p.m. for the residents.
We also have a Canned Food Drive this month for the members of S club to enter into a drawing. Members who bring at least 10 canned goods to our next meeting on November 13 will have their name put in a drawing for a gift card of $20. Every 10 cans equals one ticket entry.
Other upcoming holiday volunteer activities the club is discussing is the New Bethany Holiday choir. Choir practices have started. They are every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at New Bethany in the auditorium. The holiday program will be on Saturday, December 21 at 1:30 p.m. Choir practices will be more frequent and later (at 3 p.m.) two weeks prior to event.
If you find any of our volunteer opportunities worthwhile, it is not too late to join. We have meetings in room 3. We have only one meeting this month which is November 13, but we typically have two meetings each month. So if you are interested in helping out your community, stop by and join us.
