A lot of people have heard of Tony Hawk, also known as The Birdman, who is known to be the best skateboarder of all time. But has anyone ever heard of Nyjah Huston?

Nyjah Huston is 5 feet and 9 inches, young American Skateboarder. Huston was born in November 30, 1994. He is 25 years old. He has been skating since he was five years old. By the age of seven, he received his first sponsor from Element Skateboards. He was a pro at the age of 14.

 Being a professional skateboarder, Nyjah Huston makes about $800,000 a year. He is known to be the highest paid skateboarder in the world. He has 63,190 points in the skateboarding ranks for first place among all the other skaters.

What is skateboarding?

Skateboarding is a sport, an action sport  where you ride and perform tricks on a skateboard. It is a form of art. Also, skateboarding can be a form of transportation. 

Skateboarding started developing around the 1940s. It came off the idea of surfboarding. Surfers would call it “side-walk surfing.” Larry Stevenson was the first person to invent skateboards. He invented the kicktail and the tail of the board. 

Skateboarding became very popular between 1959 and 1965. It especially became popular in the United States. The first ever skateboard trick was the ollie. Kick-flips and pop-shuvits were next to be learned by the skaters all over the world. 

The X-Games were created for skaters to compete with one another to see who were the top three. Nyjah Huston had his first X-Game in 2006 at age 11. Nyjah has won a total of twelve gold medals from the X-Games. 

Skateboarding can get complicated at times, but people should keep trying. They may just get a shot at playing in the X-Games and becoming successful like Nyjah Huston.

Look for Huston this Olympic season.  He hopes to make his first showing in Tokyo 2020, as skateboarding also makes its inaugural appearance during this sporting event.
