Track & Field Opening Season 2020

The Los Banos boys and girls track & field opened up their season on February 29. The first race, ¨Tiger Rustbuster Track Invitational” took place in Patterson Community Stadium. This race was not a league race, but an invitational. The team was invited to attend this race just to get some practice for the upcoming league races. It is called a ¨Rustbuster” to get rid of that first race rust, nerves, and for the athletes that had never been to a meet to get a feel for it. There was a total of eight schools that attended the race, which is a smaller number than any usual invitational. The schools that attended were El Capitan, Patterson, Los Banos, Central Catholic, Orestimba, and Central Valley.

Even though the race was not all that competitive, the Los Banos team had a great showing. For the varsity boys, Los Banos took third overall with a total of 104 points;  Frosh/Soph boys took first with a total of 100 points. For the varsity girls,  Los Banos took second with a total of 115.5 points;  Frosh/Soph girls took first with a total of 107 points. There was a total of 24 medalists out of about 45 athletes that attended the race for Los Banos.

Senior, Jackie Bangle said, ¨I look forward to winning with my 4/1 team, jumping far, throwing efficiently, and having a nice tan through it all!¨

The season is just underway; the Tigers will now be preparing for their upcoming race on March 11,  at the Los Banos stadium as they host Ceres for the opening league race. All levels of the Track and Field team hope to have a great season, and have high expectations.

Don’t forget to come out and support the Tigers, March 11, at the Los Banos stadium.
