The Battle of the Books Prepares for Competition

Lorenzo Rubio, Staff Reporter

LBHS is battling it out again this year by joining The Battle of the Books competition.  Groups of students of all grade levels who love to read demonstrate their reading comprehension skills.

The Battle of the Books is a reading competition that goes on in the Central Valley between other towns in the county. The competition amounts to a large and competitive Educated Reader test requiring some persons within a six person group to know a list of books by heart and answer sometimes obscure questions about the listed books.

It is a lot of fun and one of the best shows of comradery seen within a school environment.  Last year the Los Banos team won second place in the competition and a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card for our library.

The teacher in charge of our groups is Mrs. DeGough in room 33.  There are no limits on the amount of students that can join, and from now until, July 27, you can get to reading!
