Los Banos High School started the school year with many challenges while dealing with distance learning. One big challenge was the school did not have a principal. Mr. Paul Enos, a retired district employee took over the helm as an interim principal for the first semester until a new principal was hired.
Mr. Jason Waltman accepted the position in November to lead the school. He has been a Los Banos Unified School district employee for two decades, and recently left his position as principal at Henry Miller Elementary School to join our high school. Waltman said, “The reason I came to LBHS is to make a difference at our school because of my experience as an educator and my love for Los Baños.” As a LBHS ’89 alumnus, Waltman said he enjoys our school and accepts the new challenges of being a high school principal on a large campus because he is happy to learn something new every day.
Mr. Waltman has many expectations for the year. He wants to work with the students and hopes to create a community to build a caring and successful culture. In addition, he wants to bring excellence and PRIDE back to campus.
A native of Los Banos, Mr. Waltman graduated from LBHS in 1989 and continued his education at CSU, Stanislaus. He said, “Los Banos will always be my home.” He is married and has three boys.
Waltman said that he is not a fan of distance learning. He would love to see students on campus, and he looks forward to that time when everyone can come back to Tiger Nation. “GO TIGERS,” said Mr. Waltman.
On his journey through the Los Banos school district, he started his teaching career by being an elementary school teacher at Los Banos Elementary School in 2001. Waltman then worked as an administrator at Los Banos Junior High, Los Banos Elementary, and as principal for Henry Miller Elementary school. These experience provided him experiences to be principal of our school.
If you are on campus, make sure to introduce yourself and say hi to Principal Waltman.
