Earthquake Hits Japan and Destroyed Famous Ebisu Drift track
March 8, 2021
If your into drifting and are a hardcore fan, then your more than familiar with the Famous Ebisu Drift race track in northern Japan.
Ebisu is to drifting what a cathedral is to people of religion. It is a lifestyle, a culture in a sense. The Ebisu drift track is a place where people all across the world hope to drive on at least once in their lifetimes and a place where Japan’s pros and amateurs drive on a regular basis.
On February 13, 2021, the country of Japan was struck by a powerful earthquake with the magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. This powerful earthquake’s epicenter was offshore east of Tohoku. It is believed to be an aftershock of the 2011 earthquake that devastated Japan.
The epicenter hit about 92 miles away from Ebisu Circuit. Everyone at the racetrack at the time was reported safe, but emotionally shaken. They are sad because they don´t know how they are going to tackle the damage to the track and how long it is going to take to return to normality for racers. Many racers kept their cars at Ebisu in storages but some were completely destroyed due to landslides.
