Third stimulus check helps in relief

On March 11 President Joe Biden signed a 1.9 trillion dollar Corona Virus Relief program, under the American Rescue Plan. Since the pandemic hit in March 2020, the government has issued three sets of Economic Impact Payments, or better known as stimulus checks.

This third check, for eligible individuals, will receive $1,400 per adult with an additional $1,400 per child. The restrictions include maximum income level of 80,000 for single; head of house 120,000; and married at 160,000.  This is the governments attempt to help Americans financially in a time of crisis. A lot of these stimulus checks do help out people with bills such as rent, gas and electric bill. Even though the sum is not a lot, it helps a large portion of Americans in relieving some stress due to Covid.

Unfortunately, many Americans are using this opportunity to purchase items not really meant for the purpose of the stimulus.  A lot of people are buying luxury items.  Jose Sanchez says,¨I´m going to buy new wheels and tires for my truck.¨ Many people like Jose do not depend on the stimulus check to survive.

This is not the first stimulus check given out either by the government.  According to Investopedia.com, in 2008, stimulus checks were used due to the great recession to help Americans with financial relief.

Not everyone receives a stimulus check there are requirements that need to be met in order to receive the check. According to taxslayer.com, ¨To be eligible for a Stimulus payment from the US government you need to meet the following Requirements : You must have filed a tax return for tax year 2018, 2019, or have a Form SSA-1099, Social Security Benefit Statement, or Form RRB-1099, Social Security Equivalent Benefit Statement.¨

In essence this stimulus bill is going to have a huge impact in a lot of people lives. The question is how will you spend it?
