Looking for advice and help with college?  The California Student Opportunity and Access Program (CAL SOAP) provides information about colleges and financial aid to students who might be first in their families to attend college or areas with low-eligibility or low college participation rates.   The CAL SOAP office is in the attendance office with advisors Ana Rodriguez and Karli Gorge.

Ana Rodriguez is the first advisor for CAL SOAP.  She is 22 years old and a Stanford graduate. The second advisor is Karli Jorge. She is 29 years of age and a LBHS alumni. She attended UTI and Merced College and has an associates degree in justice.

What is CAL SOAP? ” CAL SOAP stands for California Student Opportunity Access Program. This program helps seniors go to college/UC/CSU. Not only this,  but we help with academic and career advising. We also help with scholarship and grants for students, ” said Ana Rodriguez.

This is a huge benefit that seniors should take advantage of because many probably do not know how to do these kinds of things on their own, according to Rodriguez.

Anyone can benefit from this program. “This program is for all the seniors who want or need help with college applications, FAFSA, or any other help,” stated Rodriguez.

Financial Aid workshops will be open for students on the following dates:  October 5 , October 12, October 19, and October 26. These workshops will be for students who need help with anything to do with college applications, FAFSA, or helping choose a career. Students will be able to walk in at any time.
