Girls Soccer Starts the Season

Girls soccer started up this week with two games. The girls played Hilmar on Tuesday and El Capitan on Wednesday. Girls JV team came out with two wins, and Varsity is still trying to get the team together.

The JV team beat Hilmar 1-0, and Varsity was defeated 8-1.”I believe we did great. We tried our best,” says Laura Albornoz, a sophomore on the JV team.

The JV team also defeated El Capitan 3-0. “I think the only thing we need to work on is giving better passes and shooting. We gave the ball back to the other team too easily,” says Albornoz.

“We need to work on communication and ball control,” says Desiree Munoz, a senior on Varsity.  The varsity team was also defeated by El Capitan, but they are back at it again today at the Ripon Chrisitan Tourney.

The weather is a big difference for the girls, considering soccer used to be in the spring. “Even though it’s freezing, I’m excited to play in the rain,” says Munoz.

The last two games were home, so the girls will not have anymore home games until the January 3rd, which is their first league game. These teams play at the Loftin Stadium this year!
