John Wick: Chapter 4 Review

Jacob Reyna, Reporter

Last week, I went to go see the new highly anticipated John Wick movie. This movie will be the last John Wick movie for awhile according the movie’s director Chad Stahelski. This review may contain some spoilers, but I will try my best to keep it as spoiler free as possible.

The movie is rated R and it is filled with constant killing. The movie never goes at least five minutes without someone dying. But if you enjoy the John Wick movies, then you will love this movie. This movie is one of the best movies I have seen this year.

The movie takes place four years after the events of the third installment of the John Wick movies. John Wick is determined to get his revenge on the High Table. For those who do not watch the movies, the High Table is a council of twelve crime lords that control the most powerful underground criminal organizations. A senior member of the High Table, named the Marquis Vincent de Gramont, sends an assassin named Caine to kill him. John travels to the Osaka Continental Hotel in Japan where he sees Caine, who is also an old friend of his. Vincent’s men are also sent to Japan to aid in killing John Wick. A huge fight breaks out in the hotel between the hotel security and Vincent’s men. John and Caine face off and just when it seems like John is going to lose, he is saved by a bounty hunter.

John travels back to New York where he meets with Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel in New York. Winston tells John that if he wishes to lose all obligations to the High Table, according to “the old ways”, he must challenge Vincent to a duel. In order to challenge Vincent to a duel though, John must join a crime family. He travels to Berlin so he can try to join the family Ruska Roma. The leader of the family makes join kill someone in order to join the family. John does so and is able to join the family.

Now this next paragraph will contain spoilers so just skip to the last paragraph if you don’t want to be spoiled.

John challenges Vincent to a duel and it is set to happen at sunrise. Vincent, however, raises John’s bounty to 40 million dollars in hopes that he is killed before sunrise. John survives the night and makes it to the duel. Vincent has Caine take his place in the duel. John and Caine face off for the final time and Caine shoots John in the stomach causing him to bleed off. Vincent decides to step in to the duel so that he can finish off John. But once he steps into the dueling grounds, it is revealed that John never fired his gun, and John kills Vincent. John then wins the duel and sits down to enjoy the sunset before he finally dies.

This movie was so great. The cinematography was phenomenal and the effects were just as great. The plot was very well written, and you can tell that a lot of time and effort went into this movie. You just know it is going to be a good movie when Keanu Reeves is in it because he puts everything into his roles. The music was also great and was perfect in every scene.

All I can really say is that you need to see this movie for yourself. I highly recommend this movie.
