New Disney Attractions, Tips, and Tricks for Senior Grad Night

Greg Schaefer, Reporter

Many of the Senior class are ready and excited for their Grad Night trip to Disney this year, but with recent times, there is a lot of interesting and new features present throughout the park.

First thing off, this is Disney’s 100 year celebration, so for not just the trip but all year-long, the parks will have new shows, new decor (especially on the Sleeping Beauty Castle), fresh new outfits for Mickey and friends, and limited time merchandise.

In honor of Disney’s 100 years, the park is finally reopening Mickey’s Toontown and bringing back the cartoon wonderland we all remember it to be.  The park is opening a brand new area called CenTOONial Park. In, CenTOONial Park are two brand new environment attraction to old town which are, “Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard” which includes Goofy’s house with a kooky candy kitchen that encourages guest play with delicious-looking candy confection  and as well as Goofy’s garden with a bunch of wacky sounds in its interactive elements. The other cartoon area in CenTOONial Park is “Donald’s Duck Pond” which lets visitors walk on Donald’s boat and explore throughout it and the pond.

A new ride attraction called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway takes guests throughout a vibrate and cool universe with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang. Also a fun fact is this would be the newest ride added since Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin opened in 1996. In addition there is a newer kiddie coaster in town known as Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster.  The best part about all of these attractions is that they are designed for everyone with no height requirements for any of these rides.

Disney Magic Happens parade makes a return with both brand new members and the same as before with a brand new appearances as well. Magic Happens is led by Mickey Mouse and a shimmering, light up float featuring Mickey’s iconic sorcerer style hat. Along the parade route, visitors will also see: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Chip, Dale, Moana, Maui, and Pua the pig. Following next in line behind Mickey, a full scale Moana float with Moana, Gramma Tala, the heart of Te Fiti and the loveable Hei Hei. Also keep your eyes peeled for little Nemo characters on Moana’s float. Next up is a float to remember, the Coco float with Miguel, Dante, Hector, and Imelda. Then the cool Frozen 2 float with Ana, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf respectfully. Magic Happens is not just bringing in the new but also the magic of the past which includes some old favorites such as Genie, Aladdin, Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Blue Fairy, Pinocchio, Fairy Godmother, and much more old favorites. When the parade begins a couple of good viewing spots are the front of the It’s a Small World ride because of quick access to bathrooms and food; another good area is Pixie Hollow, but you have to be quick here and mark your spot, and finally a nice last minute spot or if you want to leave right after the show is done, then you just watch within Town Square.

Those are the newest features that the Senior class will experience during their trip at the end of May.
