Los Banos had their senior night for their football and cheer team on October 27, 2023 before the varsity game against Pacheco High School.
Senior night is such a special and memorable event for both students and parents. It is a chance for them to reflect on their high school journey and create lasting memories with their friends. Whether it’s a big game, a talent show, or a formal event, senior night is all about honoring the seniors and giving them a well-deserved spotlight. It’s definitely an exciting and bittersweet moment for everyone involved.
Some of the players and cheerleaders shared their thoughts and feelings about senior night.
Jackson Silva, center (12) said, “It’s a bittersweet feeling. I’m excited, but I’m also sad it’s almost over. Ever since I was a little kid, I’d go to my older cousins’ games and watch them. All I could dream about was playing Tiger football. There’s something about high school football that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s just a group of buds that you grow up with and work together every day to build something great. And it’s really tough to have to let that go.”
Quarterback, David Herra (12) mentioned, “Honestly, I’m shocked to think I’ve been on varsity for three years and have watched two graduating senior classes go through senior night, and now it’s mine. It’s been a crazy journey and I’m both sad and excited because I’ll miss these Friday night lights for sure.”
Senior night is a tradition in the United States where graduating seniors are recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments. It’s a way to show appreciation for their hard work and dedication!
Cheerleader, Athena Donahue (12) said, “I’m super excited for senior night! I’m the first one in my family to even be celebrated for my sport, so I’m super grateful and excited for my family to come out and support. I think that it’s going to be emotional as well since it’s our very last football game. I’m super grateful for the experience.”
Vanessa Leal (12) said, “I have many different emotions about senior night since it is my last game. I’ve been cheering for basically forever, and it’s all coming to an end. I’m happy I got to cheer for the last game with an amazing football team and the best cheer team. This has been the night I’ve been waiting for since I was a little kid, and I can’t wait to spend it with my family and friends.”
