This 2024-25 school year, there has been a new club president elected. The new LULAC club president is senior Tiffany Tovar and she plans to make this year one of the best years for the club.
Tovar has been involved in LULAC since her sophomore year and she, alongside her officers plan to have more events and create opportunities for the club to gain more funding/donations so that they are able to go to different events, such as going to Six Flags. One other idea that she has in mind is to have more events outside of school so that LULAC is also able to help out the community as they help out the club.
What made her want to run for president was that she was already involved in the club and she liked how the club made her know more about herself and her culture. So she wanted to make other new people that joined the club feel the same. As president, Tovar plans to have more Latin themed events and not just focus on one culture as she would like to have events that are open to all Latin cultures such as Argentina, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, etc.
Tovar said, “We get to learn more about ourselves and our cultures and we get to help people to learn about themselves too…we want to have other people have the same feeling.”
She is very proud of her culture and likes to express her nationality. Joining LULAC helped Tovar to express herself even more, so she holds herself to very high expectations. One of those expectations is to help out more Latin small businesses and help them succeed.
LULAC is a Hispanic organization that focuses on civil rights, employment, and educational attainment for all Hispanics. It is the oldest and largest Hispanic organization in the U.S. and seeks to help with scholarships to Hispanic students.
