The Art Club had its first meeting since the Club Rush on September 2. During the meeting, the club’s advisor, Mrs. Sarah Sagouspe, discussed the contents of the Los Banos Art Club, its terms, and the results of the art club officer elections.
Sagouspe has been the advisor of the Art Club for two years. The Art Club’s mission, according to Sagouspe is to “make contributions to the school and the community in the forms of murals, artistic activities, and the support of student art shows.” This is to be accomplished by “means of fundraising and student involvement,” according to Sagouspe.
Student involvement in the Art Club is in the form of participating in the events scheduled by the Art Club, attending the meetings, and running for an officer position in the club. The four positions available in the officer elections are President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Social Media Content Creator.
This year, the results of the elections are as follows: Junior Lupita Ruano as President, Junior Jazzmin Ponce as Vice President, Christina Grier as Secretary, and Junior Mariah Vaca as the Social Media Manager. The responsibilities of the president include running the meetings and organizing the club. The responsibilities of the vice president is to largely support the president. When asked about what she hopes to accomplish as president, Ruano said, “I hope to bring change to the events that the club does, and also bring more interest to it as well.”
The Art Club hopes to fundraise enough funds in order to finance a field trip for members eligible. Eligibility is based on participation in meetings and events, and the amount of students in the club. They also will be present at the Fall Art Show happening on October 31.
