Career Fair from the ARC Table!

jorge Ortiz, Staff Reporter

The career fair is quite different this year. I saw more tables and people. I also had a different perspective because I was talking to people about another career in Adventure Risk Challenge. I was one of the people behind a table giving out information. This is way different than I thought it would be. As a spectator the last two years I thought the people behind the table had an easy job but it is actually hard to think of what to say. There isn’t a script you can follow for any question you have to know your topic and come up with what to say on the spot. This was a positive experience though. I learned more on how to attract people and keep them interested. Some people had no interest at all in what I would have to say so I had to come up with something else to entertain them and persuade them to want to join in ARC.

ARC is a program about literacy and yourself. You go camping for half of the time and the other half is spent in a school. While camping, you hike to the next camping spot and have deep conversations about life at the end of the day. Every day has its challenges and fun activities. While at school you do science, leadership, and English work. In English class, all you learn is basics mainly for those that have trouble with English. ARC puts the camping and class time through short periods so you aren’t doing one for too long then the other. At the end of the trip it is full of fun activities like rock climbing.
