Track and Field Athletes Win Awards

Last Saturday, Track and Field took 50 athletes to compete at the sixth annual Merced County Championships. This is a meet where all the top athletes in Merced County compete for a chance to qualify at the County Clash. At the County Clash, the top athletes in Merced, Stanislaus, and the San Joaquin County all compete. To qualify for this meet, athletes had to place in the top seven or top 10 in the distance races.

Los Banos had several athletes qualify for the County clash. On the girls side, Mikayla Akers, Amelia Smith, Leslie Hernandez, Desiree Munoz, Andrea Briceno, Rain Olsen, and  Maribel Andrade all qualified for their events. Mikayla Akers and Leslie Hernandez both received medals for competing in the top three for their events.

On the boys side, Jensen Chase, Ivan Caloca, Francisco Espinosa, Chase Akers, Jamie Andrade, Alex Zaragosa, Jorge Ortiz, and Vicente Olague also qualified for their events.

The County Clash will take place on Friday, the 24th at Oakdale High School. Good Luck Tigers!
