It’s National Autism Awareness Month

April begins the National Autism Month.

This all began in April of 1970, when the first Autism Month occurred. It came about by the Autism Society. Every year they have a different goal to achieve.

This year they are aiming to educated the public about Autism. Autism is a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact. They are also wanting to encourage people to be a part of the awareness month and partners in movement toward acceptance and appreciation.

The Autism Month celebrates online events, activities, and partner opportunities. Another way students can be part of this is this awareness is to go online and look for any local events looking for people to participate. In addition, people can contribute by wearing the puzzle ribbon which symbolizes Autism around our community.

The LBUSD community showed their support selling tee-shirts for the Autism Awareness Month. Proceeds from this fund raiser will help support the LBUSD Special Service Department.  Students can look for other activities offered on campus through various clubs.
