The end of the first semester is quickly approaching, with only five weeks of school until winter break. Students and teachers express how they feel.
Lily Tomas (9) recalls her first couple of months as a high school student. She said, “I made so many friends and the teachers have been so nice and sweet and understanding.”
Because she was away with the tennis team twice a week, Tomas missed a few classes. She tells how she kept up with the workload on the days that she was present.
“To keep up my grades, I have been studying during pride time and after school and doing alternate exercises for all of my subjects to keep the info fresh.”
Maliyah Salas (12) is on the other end of the spectrum, with this being her last fall semester as a high schooler. It can be a mix of emotions to know that the year is almost halfway through, as Salas recalls.
“Knowing that almost half of our senior year is crazy, I am ready for this year to be over but not at the same time.”
With so many deadlines for seniors in the first few months, it can be a stressful time. Salas expresses her hope for the spring semester, as a senior with many events to look forward to.
“Next semester I’m expecting the work to be easier due to all the college stuff dying down after this semester.”
The first semester is very busy for seniors, so it is only reasonable to want and expect more of the fun aspect of being so close to graduation.
The difference between how a freshman feels about the end of the fall semester and how a senior feels is noticeable at the least. A common bond, though, is that both are ready for the spring semester and all of the fun that is yet to come!
