Over Christmas break families get together and create memories. After interviewing a peer from each class, its proven long standing traditions are a main source of happiness within the families.
Family time is important when it comes to holidays. Freshman, Lilyana Tomas said, “Christmas day we go to my grandparents house in Gustine.”
Tomas mentioned that she has many family traditions that her and her family continue to do throughout the years. Tomas said her traditions include, “Family breakfast, church, and driving around looking at Christmas lights.”
Traditions and holidays are a way to bring everyone together and sometimes even the simple and small traditions are the most memorable and ones that turn into favorites.
When asked what her favorite tradition is, Tomas said, “Driving around looking at Christmas lights because it is super fun and festive and really captures the joy of the day.”
Holidays are also an excuse to bring family together and capture moments and memories with those who live far but come down to visit.
Sophomore, Abril Diaz said, “I usually travel out of town to see family. When I wake up I eat breakfast with my family then open gifts.”
It is scary traveling during the holidays because everyone is on the road and rushing to get to their destination but to most, the drive is worth it.
Diaz said, “My favorite tradition is exchanging gifts because I like giving to the people I care about.”
This goes to show the love that is shared during Christmas as well as the gift giving play a crucial role in showing your care for a specific person.
Junior, Grace Orozco said, “My favorite tradition would have to be when we all have matching pajamas and coffee and we open up our stockings and gifts because it is just my family and we get to relax and enjoy each other while we open gifts and it’s just a very sentimental moment.”
To most people the simple things are the most important as well as favorites that they remember the most.
Senior, Paola Anguiano said, “My favorite tradition I repeat each Christmas is wearing matching pj’s with my family. We choose different ones each year. It’s my favorite because it strengthens our bond.”
Traditions are always going to be memorable and keeping them simple and sweet will cause them to want to be continued through generations.
